Bazadais are a pure French breed originating from Bazas in the Bordeaux region of southern France in a climate that is hot and arid during summer and severe in winter. The Bazadais strength, mobility and quiet temperament meant they were utilised as a work/draught animal in early farming life. The Bazadais herd book was established in 1895 and were introduced into Australia in 1991.
The Bazadais genetic is ever expanding through the use of imported semen and embryos from France and the United Kingdom. The Bazadais cattle bred in Australia today are of exceptional quality and are continually evolving to ensure they are increasing meeting the needs of the Australian beef producer, butcher and consumer.
